How this solar calculator works
The calculator turns your bill into units, sizes a plant to cover most of those units, and prices it at current Gujarat market rates. These are the numbers it uses. You can change the rate per unit, the share of usage and the loan terms under “Change assumptions”.
| Assumption | Value used | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Solar generation | 1,500 units per kW per year | Typical for Gujarat, about 4 units per kW per day |
| Average rate per unit | ₹7 home, ₹8.50 commercial, ₹8 industrial | All-in average including fuel surcharge and electricity duty. Check your own bill and change it |
| Share of usage covered | 90% home, 85% commercial, 80% industrial | Fixed charges, demand charges and night-time use stay on the grid |
| Plant cost | ₹35,000 to ₹75,000 per kW | Bigger plants cost less per kW. See the table below |
| Home subsidy | ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW, ₹18,000 for the third kW, maximum ₹78,000 | PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, for residential connections only |
| Roof area | 80 to 100 sq ft per kW | Shadow-free RCC or metal sheet roof |
| 25-year saving | Output falls 0.6% a year, tariff rises 2% a year | Kept conservative on purpose |
| CO₂ avoided | 0.72 kg per unit | Average for the Indian grid |

Solar loan and EMI options
You do not have to pay for the plant in one go. ASV arranges solar loans through Solfin, Ecofy and Ratnaafin for homes, businesses and industries, and helps with the paperwork.
In the calculator above, at 10% interest over 5 years, the EMI for most commercial and industrial plants comes out lower than the monthly saving. The lender decides the final interest rate, loan period and eligibility after checking your documents.
Solar calculator FAQs
How much can I save with solar in Gujarat?
A 1 kW solar plant generates about 1,500 units a year in Gujarat. At ₹7 to ₹8.50 per unit, that is roughly ₹10,500 to ₹12,750 saved per kW every year. A 3 kW home plant saves around ₹31,500 a year and a 100 kW factory plant around ₹12 lakh a year.
What size solar plant do I need for my electricity bill?
A 1 kW plant generates about 125 units a month, so divide the monthly units you want to cover by 125. As a guide, a ₹4,000 home bill needs about 4 kW, a ₹60,000 commercial bill about 50 kW, and a ₹5 lakh industrial bill about 400 kW.
What is the cost of a solar plant per kW in Gujarat in 2026?
Home plants of 2 to 5 kW cost about ₹55,000 to ₹65,000 per kW before subsidy. Commercial and industrial plants of 25 to 100 kW cost about ₹42,000 to ₹55,000 per kW, and plants of 500 kW to 1 MW about ₹35,000 to ₹42,000 per kW.
How much subsidy do I get on home solar in Gujarat?
Under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, a residential connection gets ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third kW, up to a maximum of ₹78,000 for plants of 3 kW and above. There is no subsidy for commercial and industrial plants.
What is the payback period of a solar plant?
At current Gujarat rates, a home plant usually pays back in 3 to 4.5 years after subsidy. Commercial and industrial plants usually pay back in 2.5 to 4.5 years, depending on the tariff and how much of the power is used on site. Solar panels are built to generate for 25 years or more.
Can I get a loan for a solar plant?
Yes. ASV arranges solar loans through Solfin, Ecofy and Ratnaafin for homes, businesses and industries. The lender decides the interest rate, loan period and eligibility after checking your documents.
